3 Learnings From The Cemetery

Today is my Mom's birthday. I went to her tomb to pay a visit for her special day. As I stood there in the midst of the people who are lying on their tombs, I had three reflections about life that I will share in this blog.

1. Life is like this ----> ". vs ________________________________________________ ..."
           Life on earth is just a dot and the after life is a never ending line. I realized today that we should always put that realization in our hearts and in our minds. So that whatever we do in this earth (the dot), we will always consider in will allow us to spend eternity (the never ending line) in heaven or in hell. This may sound morbid but this is the truth. After our life here on earth, God will judge us on the things that we do and we did not do. So it is important to live our lives in accordance to God's will.

2. The Source of true and everlasting joy in our life is God.
           Sin wraps itself in a package that promises to give us joy and happiness but beware because it's an empty joy and a temporary happiness. When we did something wrong, we feel guilty because God planted the desires in our hearts and that desires will only be addressed and will completely be fulfilled in Godly ways and not in sinful ways.

3. It is not too late to go back to God
            We, the living have a great blessing from God compared to the ones laid 6 feet below the ground. We can still turn our sinful lives to a life that God wants it to be. We have the power to pray, repent and go back to God. The dead can't pray for themselves anymore, so we also have a responsibility to pray for their soul. As for us the living, let us continue to live for God and if many times we fall and sinned against Him, let us repent and go back to Him in a sincere manner and surely God will forgive us.

           Life here on earth is short. The real life is the eternity. Let us choose to obey God here on our life here on earth not by law or rules but out of love for Him. The next time we want to do something in our life or there's a decision that you have to do, it will help if you go to a cemetery and think about your decision there. If what you will choose will help you spend the eternity with our Father in Heaven

3 As a father has compassion on his children,
       so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him;

 14 for he knows how we are formed,
       he remembers that we are dust.

 15 As for man, his days are like grass,
       he flourishes like a flower of the field;

 16 the wind blows over it and it is gone,
       and its place remembers it no more.

 17 But from everlasting to everlasting
       the LORD's love is with those who fear him,
       and his righteousness with their children's children

                                                                 Psalm 103
